Tripura Women’s Commission launches Child Marriage-Free India Campaign

Agartala Nov 27: Along with the nationwide campaign for a child marriage-free India, Tripura Women’s Commission also stepped forward, taking an active role in the initiative.
On Wednesday, the Women’s Commission of Tripura organized a program to mark the campaign’s initiation, bringing together various voluntary organizations and individuals associated with the commission.
The program was held at the office complex of the Women's Commission. During the event, participants took an oath to work towards building a child marriage-free India.
“This collective pledge signifies a unified commitment to eradicate the practice of child marriage and protect the rights and futures of young girls”, said State Women’s Commission Chairperson Jharna Debbarma.
She emphasized that child marriage is a profound social curse that devastates the lives of many girls.
Debbarma highlighted the urgent need for societal intervention, stating that every member of the community must actively participate in efforts to stop child marriage.
She called for a concerted effort from all sectors of society to combat this practice and ensure a safe and healthy environment for children to grow and thrive.
