Agartala, April 27: The Tripura State Cooperative Bank (TSCB) has announced the extension of examination centers beyond Tripura due to an overwhelming surge in registrations. Kamal Kanti Sen, Chairman of TSCB, revealed this during a press conference held at the Agartala Post Office Chowmuhani on Saturday. Despite Tripura's limited seating capacity, provisions have been made for women and physically handicapped candidates. Notably, several locations within Assam will also host the examination.
The recruitment notification, issued by the bank on October 28, 2023, disclosed a total of 156 positions across various categories: Officers (50), Clerks (78), and Multi-Tasking Staff (28). The staggering response included 19,664 eligible applicants (Officers: 5,433; Clerks: 7,583; Multi-Tasking Staff: 6,648).
Initially, Agartala was the designated hub for the online examination. However, due to state's limited online testing infrastructure, only approximately 560 candidates can be accommodated per shift. Consequently, online exams for Clerks, Multi-Tasking Staff, and Officers are scheduled for May 3, 4, and 5, 2024, respectively.
On the first day, five centers will host the exam, followed by six centers on the subsequent days. Inadequate online examination facilities in Agartala necessitated the exclusion of a significant number of applicants. As a solution, the IBPS has identified several locations in neighboring Assam, including Silchar, Guwahati, Jorhat, Dibrugarh, and Tezpur, as alternative examination centers for affected candidates. Stay tuned for further updates on this dynamic recruitment process.
