Agartala Feb 01: Bishalgarh was shaken by a gruesome double murder where a man and his wife were killed in front of their critically injured sons in Deendayal Chowmuhani area under Bishalgarh police station.

According to reports, a family dispute escalated violently between Bipul Das and his nephew, Ajanta Das (Achintya). The argument quickly turned physical, and when Bipul Das's wife and two sons intervened, Ajanta Das, along with his parents, launched a brutal assault with sharp weapons. Bipul Das, his wife Shimu Das, and their two sons were critically injured.

Fire service personnel transported the victims to Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Hospital, where Bipul Das was declared dead by on-duty doctor Riyal Majumder.

Meanwhile, Shimu Das, in critical condition, was taken to GBP Hospital and pronounced dead upon arrival. Their two sons remain in critical condition at GBP Hospital, Agartala.

Bishalgarh police acted swiftly, apprehending the main suspect, Ajanta Das, at the scene. However, Bishnu Das and his wife managed to escape.

Following the brutal crime, angry residents vandalized the suspect's home and vehicles.

District Superintendent of Police V.J. Reddy and a sizable police contingent arrived at the scene on Saturday morning.

DIGP Manchak Ippar while talking to the reporters said, “In a significant development, the police have arrested the main accused, Achinta Das, and his mother, Alpana Das, in connection with the brutal double murder of Bipul Das and his wife, Shimu Das. We have registered a case and further revelations will be made after thorough investigation”.

While the entire community remains in shock, DIGP Ippar ensured that justice will be served.
