Dharmanagar, Oct 08: Villagers of Hurua Gram Panchayat under Kalacherra block of Dharmanagar sub-division expressed concern over the role of the panchayat and initiated the renovation work for a road in the village by themselves.

According to the villagers, the road connecting Lal Bazar with Shanicherra under the Kalacherra R D Block was turned into a death trap and was left in dilapidated condition for many days. The villagers questioned the role of the panchayat and complained that despite the matter being known by the panchayat, no necessary initiative was taken in the past for renovation of the road.

Several accidents and mishaps occurred in the past as a major portion of the road was turned to a death trap and following this the villagers took the initiative by themselves to start the renovation work by their own expenditure.
