Woman held for alleged involvement in human trafficking across Indo-Bangla border

Agartala April 02: In a recent development against illegal infiltration through Indo-Bangla international borders, Railway Police in collaboration with police personnel of Amtali police station and Srimantapur BSF personnel detained one woman alleged of being involved with human trafficking.
Agartala GR Police Station Officer in-charge Tapas Das identified the woman as Parul Akhter, resident of Motinagar area.
He said, “Few days back several illegal Bangladeshi entrants were arrested from Agartala police station and during the course of interrogation and also from their mobile phones the name of one Parul Akhter came up who supposedly helped them to enter the Indian territory illegally and also gave them shelter”.
Accordingly, in a joint operation by Railway police, Tripura Police and BSF and with the help of information from secret sources in the area, accused Parul Akhter was apprehended on Tuesday morning, he added.
The OC further added that the detained will be produced before the court seeking police remand for further interrogation with an aim to find out the other touts involved in such racket.
