Agartala March 06: All India Mahila Congress president Alaka Lamba on Wednesday said that Congress is the only party that is fighting for ‘Nyay’ or justice in true sense.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi continuously speaks about ‘Nari Nyay’, ‘Yuva Nyay’, ‘Shramik Nyay’ and ‘Hissedari Nyay’, she said.
On Wednesday, Tripura Pradesh Congress leaders, workers and supporters gathered at the Agartala Town Hall to participate in ‘Nari Nyay Sammelan’ organized under the aegis of Tripura Pradesh Mahila Congress.
While All India Mahila Congress president Alaka Lamba addressed the program as the chief guest, Tripura Pradesh Congress president Asish Kumar Saha, Congress MLA and permanent invitee member of CWC Sudip Roy Barman, Congress MLA Gopal Chandra Roy, MLA Brijit Sinha, Pradesh Mahila Congress president Sarbani Ghosh Chakraborty, leaders of other frontal organizations remained present at the program.
Addressing the session, Alaka Lamba discussed the implementation of ‘Nari Nyay’.
She said, “Under the BJP rule, the role of women continues to reduce and their rights are being snatched away”.
Hailing the Congress party leadership like Rahul Gandhi Lamba said, “If voted to power, the Congress will ensure Women Reservation Bill, no women will be subjected to violence, equal rights of women in every sector, education will be implemented”.
Speaking about various incidents of crimes against women across the country, Lamba said, “Atrocities on women have increased at an alarming rate. Women, minor girls are victims of heinous crimes like rape, gang rape and many more. In many cases the victim or her family are not even allowed to register a complaint with the police. And if an FIR is lodged or accused persons are arrested, no proper punishment is given. After a few months those accused come out of jails and commit another crime. This is because they are ‘Bhakts’ of the ruling party”.
The National Congress president vowed to set examples by delivering stern punishment to the accused, responsible for crime against women in states where Congress is in power.
She urged the women across Tripura to join hands with Mahila Congress to fight for their rights and welfare.
