Agartala Jan 06: With 5-point demands the Tripura Samagra Shiksha Employees Association placed deputation to the State Project Director, Samagra Shiksha Tripura at the Shiksha Bhavan here on Friday.
With the 2023 assembly elections drawing closer, the state government is facing multi-faceted protests, demonstrations, deputations at various departments by job aspiring candidates, in-service employees and also terminated employees including 10,323 teachers.
The prime demands include regularization of all the teaching as well as non-teaching staff of SSA, enhancement of remuneration of all teaching and non-teaching staffs, grant of DA @ 12% as announced by the state government in recent days.
Talking to the reporters, Chairman of Tripura Samagra Shiksha Employees Association Bastab Debbarma said, "Prior to the 2018 assembly polls in Tripura the ruling party led by BJP promised to regularize all the contractual employees in the state and the same is also mentioned in the BJP’s Vision Document 2018. But even after 5 years of the government in Tripura where the next polls are awaiting in few days, nothing has been done to fulfil the promises”.
He further added, “The state government did not even pay any heed to the High Court’s verdict in support of SSA teachers’’ regularization whereas in other BJP-ruled state including Assam, the SSA teachers have been regularized”.
Expressing resentment against the state government, Bastab Debbarma further said, “We are not working for any political party but we are determined to protest for our rights”.
“We will be forced to gherao Minister’s residences if our promises are not fulfilled prior assembly polls”, he added.
