Agartala Nov 12: Pressing on his earlier statement that the demand of Greater Tipraland will not be diluted at any cost, Tipra Motha chief Pradyot Kishore Debbarma emanated clarion call for victory in 2023.
Complementing the term “Thansa”, the Swami Vivekananda Stadium (Astabal Ground) saw mammoth gathering of thousands of indigenous people who travelled all way from various nooks and corners of the state.
Addressing the gigantic gathering, the TIPRA Motha chairman reiterated his call for unity of indigenous people across Tripura to achieve “Greater Tipraland”.
Addressing the gathering on Saturday afternoon, he said “There is no VIP on the dais. All heavyweight leaders are sitting on the ground with our own Tiprasa people. TIPRA Motha doesn’t promote VIP culture as we believe that all are equal”.
“Bubagra doesn’t want to squabble. We are totally against violence. We are never against any community or religion. Our movement is to demand our rights given to us by the Constitution of India, and we will achieve our goals”, he added.
Pointing out the BJPs much bragged slogan of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” on the occasion of 75 years of India’s independence, Pradyot said, “Entire Country as well as the state is celebrating Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, but the Tiprasa people are deprived even after 75 years of independence”.
“There is no job, no power, no water, no teachers in schools, no doctors; even no medicine in hospitals. Tiprasa people are bound to travel to GB and IGM hospitals in Agartala and avail treatment lying on floor or have to fly to Kolkata, Chennai and other states which is not possible for majority as they are financially poor”, said Pradyot.
Referring to the Vision Document 2018 Pradyot asked, “Where is missed call Baba”?
He further questioned where the promises are, that were made before 2018 elections like Rs 340.00 MGNREGA wage and regularization of all contractual employees.
The problem of Tiprasa people was never solved by changing the party or government, he said.
“Slogans of ‘Cholo Paltai’ ‘Cholo Ultai’ were raised from time to time, but the leaders remained the same, earlier they were in CPI-M and now they are BJP”, he added.
Taking a jibe over the ruling BJP without naming any, Pradyot said, “On repeated occasions I was offered the post of MP, central minister including money, but I have made it clear that alliance is possible only if we are given assurance in written about constituting Greater Tipraland”.
“The ruling party may offer money to the MDCs and leaders of Motha, and if they feel like betraying the community, then Tiprasa will not spare them”, warned Pradyot.
Adding that 2023 elections will be ‘one last fight’, Pradyut said, “Barely two months are left for the polls. We have to intensify our struggle, our struggle for our democratic rights, our existence”.
He made the people present in the mass gathering to take a vow that they will not rest until “Greater Tipraland” is achieved.
"Delhi will have to pay attention and accept our voice," the scion of erstwhile royal family added.
Pradyot’s speech was preceded by the speech delivered by renowned national footballer of yesteryears Baichung Bhutia who is also a Sikkimese political leader, president of Hamro Sikkim Party (HSP).
Baichung also called for unity among the indigenous population in the state adding that he wishes to see Tripura ruled by its own people.
TIPRA Motha president Bijoy Kumar Hrangkhawal, ADC chairman Jagadish Debbarma, EM Animesh Debbarma, Ex-IPFT MLA Mevar Kumar Jamatiya, Ex-MLA Brishaketu Debbarma and others also remained present in the day’s gathering.
A huge force of police and paramilitary personnel was deployed to maintain law and order.
However, the entire program went on peacefully and no untoward incident was received till the time of writing the report.
