2-Day National Seminar on ‘Recent Trends in Bengali Language and Literature’ held to commemorate International Mother Language Day

Belonia, Feb 22: Under the joint initiative of Bengali department of Ishwarchandra Vidyasagar college, Internal Quality Assurance Wing and Research Innovation Wing of the College and Belonia Press Club, a 2-day national seminar on ‘Recent Trends in Bengali Language and Literature’ was held here in the smart room of the college on Friday.
Eminent Professor of Assam University Rintu Das had inaugurated the seminar in presence of eminent writer Ashok Deb, Principal of the college Dr Manoranjan Das and Rakesh Debnath, Pratap Debbarma, Litan Chakraborty, Rocky Pal, Ashok Dasgupta, Haradhan Pal and others of Belonia Press Club.
Inaugurating the seminar, professor Rintu Das said that there is no difference in language. All languages are used for the same purpose. The effort to keep the language alive is what makes people human, he said.
Principal of the college Dr Manoranjan Das addressed the gathering and said that 8324 languages recognized by UNESCO are still alive today, and if any language disappears due to neglect and disrespect, then the culture and tradition of that group will die, so everyone has to play an active role to promote and protect their language.
Expatriate surgeon in England, life-oriented writer and professor Naba Kumar Bose, professor of Visva Bharati University Aparna Roy, professor of Kalyani University Sabitri Nanda Chakraborty, and others also addressed the programme.
