Agartala Dec 13: A four day International conference on “Responsible Aquaculture and Sustainable Fisheries Interact (RASHI) and Fish Festival” was inaugurated on Tuesday as a part of Silver Jubilee Year celebrations of the College by Minister of Fisheries Prem Kumar Reang.
The program has been organized under the joint efforts of College of Fisheries Tripura, College of Fisheries Lembucherra Alumni Association, Tripura North East Society for Fisheries and Aquaculture, India.
The inaugural program started with the welcome speech of Dean, College of Fisheries, Prof. Ratan Kumar Saha who is also the Convenor, RASHI-2022.
“More than 700 participants registered for the conference, 25 institutions participated, 37 students’ innovations were submitted and published, 12 awards were conferred during the event and several silver jubilee publications of this college were released”, said the Dean of the College.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Prem Kumar Reang highlighted the importance of the conference and acknowledged the diversity of the gathering in coping with the emerging challenges in fisheries.
Heikham Dingo Singh, minister of Social Welfare/Skill, Labour and Employment, Govt. of Manipur while speaking on the occasion stressed on the importance of Fisheries Development and the role of College of Fisheries in the fisheries sector as well as quality human resource development.
Besides, MLA Krishnadhan Das, Dr Anupam Mishra, vice chancellor of CAU, Imphal, and other dignitaries also remained present at the inaugural ceremony.
