Gandacherra, Mar 21: A total of 50 voters from 16 families left TIPRA Motha, Congress and CPM and joined BJP in Raimavalley Mandal on Friday. 

The move was led by former TIPRA Motha Gandacherra Subdivision president Maidham Ram Reang and Raimavalley Block Congress vice president Khagendra Tripura.

BJP Raimavalley Mandal president Dhanya Manik Tripura welcomed the new members during a joining programme organized the BJP Raimavalley Mandal Committee. 

BJP leaders, including State Secretary and MDC Bhumikananda Reang, Dhalai District president Patiram Tripura and Vice president Bikash Chakma, were also present during the event.

Addressing the gathering, Patiram Tripura stated that a larger joining event was planned in Narayanpur Bazaar but was canceled due to a strike called by TIPRA Motha’s student wing. He assured that BJP’s joining drives in Raimavalley would continue.

Maidhyam Ram Reang cited internal issues and a lack of recognition in TIPRA Motha as reasons for his switch, while Khagendra Tripura said he left Congress due to its uncertain future.
