8 individuals held for illegally crossing border

Sabroom, Nov 04: Eight individuals including three women, two minor girls and a child were detained by Sabroom police on the charge of illegal infiltration.
On Monday, Sabroom police received a secret input about illegal infiltration to the Indian territory by the eight individuals at Jalkumbha area, east part of Sabroom.
A police team led by Rajib Majumder immediately reached the spot and took the infiltrators to Sabroom police station.
During preliminary interrogation, police got to know that three among the infiltrators are residents of Muhuripur area of Belonia sub-division in South Tripura district and the remaining individuals are from Jagannath Para area of Khagrachari district in Bangladesh.
The Bangladeshi infiltrators informed the police that some of the citizens of Bangladesh were moving to India due to attacks on minorities in the country.
Meanwhile, a section of people in Sabroom raised a question on the role of BSF after the eight individuals managed to enter the Indian territory by illegally crossing the border. Besides, there are allegations that smuggling of Burmese cigarettes, cancer medicines, surgical equipment and contraband tablets is taking place through Sabroon border.
