Agartala Nov 04: Adulterated oil has become a significant issue in the prime markets of Agartala city. Following complaints from individuals who fell ill, the administrative team of Sadar sub-division launched a campaign on Monday morning in the Maharajganj Bazar.
During the raid, a large quantity of Bangladeshi oil was discovered from one Sougat Pal's shop. The shop owner lacked necessary documents including import license to sell these oils, violating government regulations.
Additionally, Sougat Pal has two more stores where similar oil stocks were found, but employees were unable to provide keys to these stores, stating that Sougat Pal is currently not in Agartala.
Meanwhile, a Food department official while talking to the reporters said, “Several irregularities were uncovered during the raid. Consequently, the shop has been closed”.
“The administration plans to take action against the shop owner for selling Bangladeshi oil without an import license, which is illegal. Furthermore, the prices of other items, including rice, potato, onion etc. were also checked during the raid”, he said.
