Ambassa, Feb 10: Dhalai district police on Monday recorded one of the biggest drug hauls of the state under Neshamukt Tripura campaign.

Based on secret information, the policemen led by SP Dhalai found 9,24,000 Yaba tablets worth Rs. 28 crore in a vehicle at Betbagan Naka point under Ambassa police station.

The drug consignment was found inside the oil tank of the vehicle, according to police.

The operation also led to arrests of two persons. A case has been registered against the duo under the NDPS Act. The Addl. SP, Dhalai and SDPO Ambassa and other officers were part of the raid. 

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha hailed the achievement of police towards the vision of Drugs-free Tripura.

Meanwhile, in a similar effort, North Tripura district police seized Yaba tablets worth Rs. 2.5 crore from a vehicle and arrested the driver on Sunday.

These two seizures clearly indicate the extent of drug supply to Tripura and involvement of an active drug syndicate in the state.
