Agartala, Dec 17: The election process for BJP’s Mandal president is over and the list is likely to be announced after the upcoming visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, according to party sources.

The Pradesh BJP largely considered young faces at the Mandal level. As indicated by the sources, the BJP leaders aged below 45 years would become president in maximum Mandal. In some places, the party may take decisions in a different way, taking organizational matters into consideration and giving respect to the local sentiments.

In the on-going process, the party has already announced the lists of booth presidents. Now, the Karyakartas are waiting for the announcement of Mandal presidents.

According to sources, the election of Mandal presidents became a bit tough for the party following differences of opinions among a section of leaders. While some leaders reportedly want their close aides to lead the party at the mandal and district levels, there has been a demand among the Karyakartas to introduce young and dedicated persons to this position.

Meanwhile, the state leadership including Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharjee are considering various aspects in the election process to further strengthen the organization.

Earlier, the BJP appointed senior leader Samarandra Chandra Deb as the returning officer for its internal elections in Tripura.

State general secretary Bipin Debbarma and MLA Malina Debnath were appointed co-returning officers for the organisational elections.
