Agartala, Feb 25: Tripura Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has dismissed allegations from the opposition parties, CPIM and Congress, regarding shrinking government job opportunities in Tripura.
The ruling party asserted that such claims are misleading and do not reflect the actual employment scenario under the current government.
Addressing a press conference at the party’s state headquarters in Krishnanagar on Tuesday, Chief Spokesperson Subrata Chakraborty stated that the state government has provided over 22 thousand jobs since assuming office.
Besides, 4 thousand new jobs are in process, while proposals for another 8 thousand posts are under consideration across various departments, he added.
Another three thousand vacant posts are also set to be filled soon.
Chakraborty said that the state cabinet has already approved the recruitment for 315 positions as part of this ongoing employment drive.
Meanwhile, the BJP spokesperson also highlighted the central government’s role in providing financial aid to mitigate the impact of the August floods.
He said, “The disaster, which affected nearly half the state’s population, saw immediate intervention with Rs 40 crore allocated for relief efforts. A total of 11 NDRF teams, three army columns and other agencies were deployed for rescue operations.”
The state government announced a Rs 565 crore relief package, followed by an additional Rs 288.93 crore in central assistance, Chakraborty added.
Criticizing the opposition’s response, Chakraborty accused CPIM of downplaying the financial aid provided by the Centre and the state government.
The party maintained that the coordinated efforts of both governments are ensuring steady progress in disaster relief and employment generation, he added.
