Boxanagar Buddha Stupa has potential to attract more tourists: IAS officer S K Singh

Boxanagar, Nov 01: Mesmerized by the picturesque surroundings of the Buddha Stupa – an archeological heritage in Boxanagar in Sepahijala district, an IAS officer of the Ministry of Panchayat Raj S K Singh on Friday said that the only tourist place along the India-Bangladesh border in Boxanagar has the potential to attract more tourist in near future.
The IAS officer accompanied by the MLA Tafazzal Hossain, Buxnagar Block Chairperson Swapna Namah and Block Officer Sandeep Pal along with other officers on Friday visited the Biddha Stupa.
During his visit, the IAS officer said that he has a plan to visit other tourist spots including Neer Mahal in Sepahijala district of the state. He said that the architectural monument in Boxanagar is not only historical, but also filled with the charm of nature, which has potential to attract more tourists and enhance the economy of the people residing along the bordering area in Boxanagar.
He assured that special plans for the development of three tourist centers in Sepahijala district would be discussed with the union cabinet ministers for further development in enhancing tourist attraction, which perhaps will open new livelihood opportunities for the local people and make them self-reliant.
