Buddhist body and admin to hold final rites of chief monk on Nov 24

Gandacherra, Nov 21: The cremation ceremony of Venerable Ratnapriya Mahathero, the chief monk of the Raima Valley Bhikkhu Sangha is announced to be held on November 24 next.
Announcing the date of the final rites of the chief monk, the representatives of Raima Valley Bhikkhu Sangha and the Buddhist Welfare Society on Thursday said that the mortal remains of the chief monk would be taken on a procession through various areas of Gandachhara Sub-division on November 23, and the final rites would be performed at Nakkachhara Triratna Buddha Bihar on November 24.
The chief monk of the Raima Valley Bhikkhu Sangha passed away in Agartala on August 25 after suffering from illness.
At least 150 representatives of Bhikkhu Sangha are expected to remain present in the two-day long programme, while the programmes are expected to have a gathering of at least 8000 Buddhists.
