Cent percent usage of available water bodies in compliance with modern techniques will boost fish-production in state: Sudhangshu

Agartala Nov 21: Minister for Fisheries and ARD Department Sudhangshu Das noted that animal husbandry and fish rearing is crucial for the development of rural economy. Further, such practices can empower unemployed youths to achieve ‘atmanirbharta’ or ‘self-reliance’.
Minister Das made the statements on Thursday as he took part in the World Fisheries Day celebration, held at Pragna Bhavan, Agartala.
Apart from the minister, other dignitaries of the Fisheries Department remained present at the program.
In his address, Sudhangshu emphasized the importance of utilizing all existing water bodies in the state to achieve self-reliance in fish production.
He highlighted the state's potential to become self-sufficient in fish production by making optimal use of available resources.
“The celebration of World Fisheries Day at Pragya Bhavan underscores the state's commitment to advancing the fisheries sector and empowering its youth through innovative and sustainable practices”, he said.
Minister Das also urged unemployed youth to get trained in modern fish farming technologies.
He encouraged them to take advantage of various schemes offered by the Fisheries Department to become self-reliant.
Das further underscored the role of these initiatives in promoting economic growth and providing sustainable livelihoods.
