Agartala March 31: In a significant stride towards enhancing healthcare services, the government has initiated discussions with the Mohan Foundation to commence kidney transplantation at GB Hospital. Recognizing the critical need for robust infrastructure, funds have been allocated in the budget to ensure the necessary improvements. This initiative is part of a broader vision to enable all types of organ transplantation at the hospital, marking a transformative step in the state's healthcare landscape, said the chief minister Dr Manik Saha.
The chief minister made the statements on Monday as he inaugurated a mid-day meal program, a collaborative effort by the Rotary Club of Agartala and Rogi Kalyan Samiti of Agartala Government Medical College under a project named, “Rotary Anna Yojana”.
For just ten rupees, families of patients traveling from distant areas can now enjoy a wholesome meal comprising rice, pulses, vegetables, and eggs.
The Chief Minister lauded this initiative, emphasizing its importance in alleviating the financial burden on patient families. He also announced plans to establish shelter houses for these families, addressing the challenges they face during their stay.
Apart from the chief minister, the official launching of the program also saw the presence of several other dignitaries including the Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, Kiran Gitte and others.
Initially, the program will cater to 100 individuals daily on a first-come, first-serve basis, with meals distributed in front of the Medicine Block.
The Rotary Club of Agartala will oversee the project's progress, with plans to expand based on its success, said Dr Bidhan Goswami, Secretary, Rotary Club of Agartala.
Chief Minister Dr. Saha reiterated the government's commitment to the welfare of the common people, aligning with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
These initiatives, blending healthcare advancements with compassionate welfare measures, reflect a holistic approach to serving the community and uplifting lives, he said while talking to the reporters.
