Teliamura, Dec 04: With an aim to promote traditional folk dance- Dhamail, the Information and Cultural Affairs department is organizing a two-day Dhamail Utsav and Mela at Chitrangada Art Center in Teliamura, commencing from December 08.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha will inaugurate the event, said Chief Whip of the Tripura Legislative Assembly Kalyani Saha Roy.

Speaking to the reporters on Wednesday at the Teliamura Municipal Council chairman’s office, Roy urged the people to participate and celebrate the rich heritage of Dhamail dance.

Teliamura Municipal Council chairman Rupak Sarkar, Deputy CEO Amit Roy Choudhury, and Additional Director of ICA department Dilip Kumar Debbarma were also present in the press conference.

The festival is set to feature performances by 50 Dhamail dance troupes from various districts including Khowai, Dhalai, Unakoti, and North Tripura. Additionally, a Khowai district-level poet conference will also be held, enhancing the cultural diversity of the event.

An exhibition will showcase developmental initiatives from various government departments and provide opportunities for self-help groups with dedicated stalls.
