Agartala Dec 19: A day before Union Home Minister Amit Shah's visit to Tripura, the Tripura Pradesh Congress has demanded his resignation and an apology to the countrymen in protest against his controversial comments on the drafter of the Constitution, Dr. BR Ambedkar.
On Thursday evening, a protest march was taken out from the Pradesh Congress Bhavan, Agartala, led by Pradesh Congress president Ashish Kumar Saha.
The TPCC president stated that on December 17, the Union Home Minister made derogatory comments about Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar inside Parliament.
"In response, the Parliament has become agitated, and the National Congress has organized a protest program. Leaders and workers of the National Congress are strongly condemning the comments, which they believe indicate a conspiracy to abolish and change the Constitution. The comments have hurt people across the country, leading to demands for Amit Shah's immediate resignation and an apology", said Saha.
Ashish Kumar Saha also criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party for frequently making unparliamentary and immoral statements inside and outside Parliament. MLA Sudip Roy Barman expressed shock at the Union Home Minister's comments, stating that they reveal the BJP's opposition to the Constitution and their deep-seated animosity towards Dr. Ambedkar.
At the end of the procession, the Congress protested by burning an effigy of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
