Agartala March 11: Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy emphasized the need for a mass movement to prevent child marriage, highlighting that a country prospers when women and men enjoy equal rights.
Addressing a one-day awareness workshop at Pragna Bhavan, he stressed the importance of informing public representatives about the department's projects to raise awareness among rural people.
Minister Roy pointed out that the Department of Social Welfare and Social Education provides numerous services from birth to death, with various public welfare projects aimed at child and women welfare.
The workshop, attended by representatives of the three-tier Panchayats, Agartala Municipal Corporation, Municipal Councils, Nagar Panchayats, child welfare committees, Anganwadi workers, assistants, members of the Juvenile Justice Board, and the department, aimed to offer a comprehensive understanding of these projects.
The Minister highlighted state government initiatives to improve facilities in Anganwadi centers, such as education, balanced food, drinking water, and toilets.
He also mentioned the achievements in providing services to differently-abled individuals, including the distribution of UD ID cards and financial assistance through schemes like the Sponsorship and Foster Care Alliance and the Chief Minister Antyodaya Shraddhajanli Yojana.
Special guest Dipak Majumdar, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor and MLA, reiterated the importance of informing public representatives about the projects to ensure the rural populace is aware.
The workshop also recognized the efforts of Kalyan Samiti, Netaji Yuva Shakti Sangha, and Royal Club in promoting welfare projects during Durga Puja, as well as honouring several Anganwadi workers and helpers.
The event also featured speeches by Sajal Biswas, Additional District Magistrate of West District, and Dipak Lal Saha, Social Education Inspector of West Tripura District.
During the workshop, accolades were given to Kalyan Samiti, Netaji Yuva Shakti Sangha, and Royal Club for their commendable efforts in promoting various welfare projects for senior citizens during the last Durga Puja.
Kalyan Samiti received the 1st prize, Netaji Yuva Shakti Sangha secured the 2nd prize, and Royal Club was awarded the 3rd prize, with cheques of Rs 20 thousand, 15 thousand, and 10 thousand, respectively.
Additionally, the event honoured 3 Anganwadi workers and 3 helpers for their dedicated service.
