Agartala Nov 02: The Tripura Pradesh Congress on Saturday kicked off the ‘Sanhati Padyatra’ (solidarity march) across the state to commemorate the death and birth anniversaries of former prime minister Indira Gandhi.
Talking to the reporters as the rally traversed various routes of the state capital, Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman said, “As a part of the party’s decision, we are organizing this Sanhati Padyatra that will be held across the state starting from October 31, death anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi till November 19, her birth anniversary”.
“This rally is to spread a message of love, peace and tranquillity across the state of Tripura”, he added.
Taking a jibe at the BJP-led government, Roy Barman said, “Ever since the BJP has come to power in the Centre as well as in the state, we have seen a growth in the fundamentalist forces, sowing the seeds of hatred and this has disrupted the peace and harmony”.
“We believe in one theory as said by our leader, ‘Mohbabat ki Dukan’, which is to spread love among all, be far away from any sort of discrimination and treat everyone equally”, he added.
Tripura Pradesh Congress president Asish Kumar Saha and other prominent leaders also took part in the day’s rally.
