Agartala, Nov 07: The CPI(M) on Thursday celebrated the 105th anniversary of November Revolution Day, marking the insurrection of leftist revolutionaries led by Bolshevik Party leader Vladimir Lenin on November 7, 1917, in Russia.
Addressing the gathering here in a programme at Agartala Town Hall, the CPI(M) Politburo member Manik Sarkar said that the CPI(M) adopted the Party programme in 1964 and subsequently defended the strategy and tactics based on this understanding from both revisionism and dogmatism.
He said that the party has set out a programme to guide the workers, peasants, all sections of the working people and the progressive, democratic forces in their fight against the ruling classes to achieve People’s Democracy as a step towards the goal of a socialist society.
The ‘November Biplab’ was a landmark event in world history, when the working class seized power in Russia following the Marxist ideology and established a socialist state, he added.
He said that the bourgeois power in the country had led to anarchy and misery for the people, and that the ‘November Biplab’ was becoming increasingly relevant.
In a different note, Manik Sarkar left no stone unturned to slam the ruling BJP government at the Centre and said that the RSS-backed BJP government in the country has brought an attack on the constitution, democracy and parliamentary system of this country.
He said, “It is the fact that the I.N.D.I alliance could not dethrone the BJP from power, but could weaken the party. There is a need to continue movement against the present fascistic government in power to bring a solution to the burning issues in the country.”
