Kumarghat, Oct 1: Along with other parts of Tripura, preparations for the upcoming Durga Puja celebrations are in full swing at various clubs in Kumarghat under Unakoti district. Among the big-budget Puja organizers, Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Club stands out for its extravagant and artistic celebrations.
This year marks the 44th edition of their Durga Puja, with a theme centered around “Mayur Hansraj.”
Skilled artisans from Nabadwip in West Bengal are meticulously crafting the grand pandal and the intricate idol.
The club has set a budget of Rs 33 lakh for the celebrations and aims to captivate the crowd with elaborate decorations and lighting, designed by Nabadwip’s renowned light artists.
Despite the glory, the club is mindful of the hardships faced by the people due to the recent floods in Tripura.
Taking into account the Chief Minister’s appeal to reduce Puja expenses and avoid burdening the public with excessive donations, the club has reduced external fundraising and increased contributions from its members, according to club secretary Suman Das.
With little time left, workers are toiling day and night to complete the pandal, idols and other arrangements, he added.
The organizers are leaving no stone unturned to ensure the event is memorable for all who come to seek the blessings of the Goddess.
