Agartala Dec 04: The residents of Kalishankar Thakur Para in Mandai have demanded the renovation- cum- repair work of the only crematorium in the area, at the earliest.

It is pertinent to note that the crematorium is used by the locals for performing final rites and for the past several years its condition had worsened.

Speaking to the local villagers it could be known that the crematorium was built in the year 1997 in Kalishankar Thakur Para of Mandai RD Block. But miscreants looted the rods and bricks of the crematorium. Since then, the locals have been facing problems in cremating dead bodies.

“It is almost 7 years that the crematorium has completely broken down. We informed the local MLA Sapna Debbarma and other concerned authorities of the Panchayat but nothing has been done to repair and renovate the crematorium”, said one of the villagers.

The locals therefore demanded the concerned authorities to immediately start the repair work as the public are facing hardship due to dilapidated condition of the crematorium.
