Kumarghat March 13: Highlighting the significant role of women in the nation’s progress, Minister for ARDD and Fisheries Sudhangshu Das, presided over a program commemorating International Women’s Day 2025.

The program was celebrated at the Fatikroy Community Hall on Thursday under the initiative of Unakoti district administration.

Apart from the minister, Unakoti Zilla Parishad Sabhadipati Amalendu Das, Kumarghat Panchayat Samiti Chairman Sumati Das, SDM N S Chakma, Kumarghat Block BDO Dr Sudip Bhowmik among others also remained present at the program.

Minister Sudhanshu Das, in his inaugural address, highlighted the significant role of women in the country's progress and emphasized the government's focus on women's self-empowerment since Narendra Modi became Prime Minister.

He criticized the opposition parties, alleging their lack of respect for women and their opposition to the appointment of Draupadi Murmu as President.

The event also honoured several successful women, including women police personnel, and featured a procession advocating for women's empowerment and the prevention of crimes against women.
