Amarpur, March 25: The Gomati district-level World Tuberculosis Day was observed here at Amarpur Old Town Hall on Monday.
Gomati Zilla Parishad President Debal Deb Ray has inaugurated the programem and said that Prime Minister has called for a TB-free country and in view of this people from walks of life in addition to the health workers should come forward and extend their helping hand.
He said that the health workers have played a key role in making the 100-day campaign a grand success in Gomati district. Speaking at the event, health officer of Amarpur subdivision Dr Prasenjit Sarkar said that work is going on with the target of creating a TB-free India by 2025. As part of this, the 100-day campaign of Prime Minister's TB-Free India campaign was successfully completed in the district.
On the other hand, specials in tuberculosis disease Dr Sumit Chakraborty said, TB disease is now curable if treated at the right time and everyone should be made aware of this, he added.
Chairperson of Udaipur Municipal Council Shital Chandra Majumder, Amarpur Nagar Panchayat Chairperson Bikash Saha, Amarpur Panchayat Samiti Chairman Suchitra Das, Amarpur BAC Chairman Rabitra Jamatia, and others were present in the programme.
