Agartala, July 01: In a remarkable stride towards enhancing the healthcare and infrastructures in Tripura, the Ministry of DoNER has approved Rs. 515 crore for five projects. Among them, three projects are for improving healthcare infrastructure.
After inaugurating the National Doctors' Day programme at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan on Monday, Chief Minister Professor Dr. Manik Saha said, among the healthcare projects, Rs. 202 crore has been allocated for the construction of Agartala Government Dental College, Rs. 192 crore has been sanctioned for a 200-bed Mother and Child Healthcare Unit at Agartala Government Medical College and GBP Hospital, and Rs. 121 crore for establishment of a de-addiction center in Bishramganj.
The Chief Minister reiterated that the enhancement of healthcare services is a top priority for the state government. The government is working towards transforming Tripura into a Medical Hub. The government is committed to providing advanced healthcare services to the rural people through various initiatives.
During the event, the Chief Minister outlined several plans for the improvement of healthcare services. Under the National Board of Examinations, the IGM Hospital has received approval for 20 DNB seats in three departments. Additionally, a new digital service "Mera Hospital" portal was also launched.
The Tripura Institute of Paramedical Sciences (TIPS) has introduced a GNM course with 40 seats at its School of Nursing. Furthermore, the number of MBBS seats at Agartala Government Medical College has been increased from 100 to 150.
Dr. Saha also remembered Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy on this occasion of National Doctors' Day. The Chief Minister said, the contributions of Dr. Roy would continue to inspire.
Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha and Special Secretary to the Health department Dr. Brahmneet Kaur also spoke in the programme.
The Director of Health Services, Dr. Sanjib Debbarma, delivered the welcome address, while Joint Director Dr. Souvik Debbarma extended the vote of thanks. The Tripura Mission Director of NHM Rajib Datta was also present.
As part of the celebration of National Doctors' Day, 10 senior doctors and 5 young doctors were felicitated in the event for their exceptional contributions to the field. The Chief Minister presented them with mementos as a token of appreciation.
