Agartala, Feb 15: The Dr. BR Ambedkar Gold Medal and Mega Award Distribution Ceremony 2025 held at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala on Saturday.
Tripura Scheduled Caste Welfare Minister Sudhangshu Das inaugurated the event in presence of Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumdar and MLA Mina Rani Sarkar.
The guests paid floral tribute to the portrait of Dr. BR Ambedkar, the chief architect of Indian Constitution.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Das emphasized the importance of the awards distribution to recognize the hard works of the top ten students of the 2024 Secondary and Higher Secondary Examinations by the Tripura Board. He also mentioned awards for students from sixth to ninth grades and first division achievers in the West Tripura district.
Minister Das highlighted the financial support provided to students pursuing professional courses. He shared that the department offers assistance to those aspiring to become doctors or engineers. For students enrolled in medical colleges, the government provides Rs 4 lakh annually, totaling Rs 20 lakh over the course of the program, along with a one-time payment of Rs 1 lakh for the entire five years. Besides, students receive an annual hostel allowance of Rs 13,500.
Das emphasized the government's commitment of empowering the Scheduled Caste community through such initiatives.
