Agartala Feb 24: In a tragic incident, Bijoy Debbarma the elder brother, was arrested by the police of Melaghar police station for the murder of his younger brother, Amitabh Bachchan Debbarma. The incident occurred on the February 22, 2025, evening  in the Taibandal Dhanmura area.
Reportedly, the conflict arose over the loud volume of sound box, leading to a heated argument between the brothers.
During the altercation, Bijoy Debbarma resorted to violence, resulting in the untimely death of his younger brother, Amitabh. Following the incident, Bijoy fled the scene, leaving the community in shock and mourning.
The police of Melaghar police station and Taibandal outpost swiftly began a search operation to apprehend Bijoy Debbarma. They meticulously searched various locations and finally succeeded in arresting him from the house of the girl he was married to in the Mirza area on last Sunday night.
Officer in Charge (OC) Debashish Saha of Melaghar police station briefed the media in detail about the arrest and ongoing investigation.
Meanwhile the tragic incident has cast a pall of sorrow and fear over the entire community.
