Fight against Child Marriage: Tripura’s Jyotsna Akhtar gets ‘Rastriya Bal Puraskar’

Agartala, Jan 23: Breaking the barriers, Jyotsna Akhtar from South Tripura district has been making a difference in her community through awareness campaign against Child Marriage.
As a token of recognition to her committed efforts and indomitable spirit in the campaign, she has been conferred with the prestigious 'Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar 2024' in Social Service category.
A Class-X student from PM Shree School, Amjad Nagar High School at Hrishyamukh block area in South Tripura District, Jyotsna has received the award from President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi on Monday.
The schoolgirl has been transforming lives through ‘Balika Mancha’ initiative and is now inspiring others.
She has set an example by courageously opposing her parents’ decision to marry her off at a young age. Instead, she expressed her strong desire to continue her education and become self-reliant.
Meanwhile, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha in a social media post hailed the achievement of the schoolgirl.
“Heartiest congratulations to Miss Jyotsna Akhtar for being conferred with Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar in the Social Service category. With your initiative, you lit light amongst many lives. Kudos to your bravery & commitment at such a young age. Tripura is proud of you”, Dr. Saha wrote on X.
