Agartala/ Teliamura, Dec 02: A public meeting to protest the privatization of electricity and railways, rising prices, and unemployment was organized by the CPI(M)'s Teliamura Divisional Committee at Teliamura on Saturday.
The meeting was addressed by former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, who said that the country and state are in worse conditions. The meeting was also addressed by CPI(M) Teliamura District Committee Secretary Hemanta Kumar Jamatia and former MLA Manindra Chandra Das.
Criticizing the ruling government, Sarkar said, "Tripura has reached a point where people are selling their children due to hunger," Sarkar said. "The recent incident in Mungiakami is a reflection of this reality."
He added that the BJP government has completely failed to run the state in the last 69 months. He said that the government has not fulfilled any of its promises made in the Vision Document.
He said, "Regar work is almost at a standstill, Workers have not been paid for the work they did four months ago." Sarkar also claimed that there is a shortage of doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff in the state's hospitals. He said that poor people are not getting the necessary medicines in the hospitals. He added, "The ministers of the government are sitting in their comfortable rooms and misleading the people of the state by giving false information."
Attacking the TIPRA Motha, he claimed that, "If the Tripura Indigenous Peoples' Front (TIPRA Motha) had not betrayed the tribal people of the state, the BJP would not have returned in the 2023 election. The TIPRA Motha supremo showed the simple tribal people of the state the dream of an independent state and took away the tribal vote bank from the Left Front and helped the BJP come to power from behind."
Sarkar said that people will not make that mistake again. He called on the people of the state to come forward and vote for the alternative coalition to oust the BJP government in the next Lok Sabha elections.
