Agartala, Sept 04: A historic peace agreement was signed between the government and two insurgent groups of Tripura in New Delhi, in presence of Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday.
The agreement was signed between the Government of India, the Government of Tripura, National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) and All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF).
Meanwhile, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Tripura and the entire North Eastern region have been witnessing unprecedented development.
The Chief Minister along with former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, founder of Tipra Motha Party Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, MLA Ranjit Debbarma, Chief Secretary of Tripura J.K. Sinha and representatives of NLFT and ATTF were present during signing of the agreement.
The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for being instrumental in creating an atmosphere of peace, prosperity and good will in the entire North East region.
He said, "under the leadership of the Prime Minister and proactive initiative of the home Minister, a dozen of peace agreements have been signed in the entire North East region over the past 10 years to resolve many of the complex issues, out of which three agreement are for Tripura."
"It’s a matter of great satisfaction that the NLFT and ATTF members have decided to join the mainstream for participation in development journey spearheaded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. There are many schemes and programmes of both the central and state governments which have been transforming the lives of the people including Janajati people", the chief Minister said.
On this historic moment, the Chief Minister, on behalf of the people of Tripura, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Central Government for the efforts to create an atmosphere of peace, prosperity and good will in state and other parts of NE region. He also welcomed all the NLFT-ATTF members back to the mainstream.
