Huge cache of heroin seized, two arrested in Tripura

Dharmanagar, June 10: In a major success towards the fight against drugs, the Tripura Police seized a huge cache of heroin from Damcherra in North Tripura district on Monday.
Two persons- Sahidul Rahaman (35) and Jasim Uddin, both from Sonamura in Sepahijala district, were arrested in connection with the recovery of the drugs, police confirmed.
Based on secret information available with the Superintendent of Police, North Tripura- Bhanupada Chakraborty, the team of Damcherra police station raided a car.
During the search, the policemen found 2.212 kilograms of heroin from the vehicle. The drugs were kept in 177 plastic cases, police said.
According to SP North Tripura, the market value of the seized drugs would be approximately Rs. 25 crore.
Damcherra police already initiated a probe and started interrogating the arrested persons to reveal more clues about the drugs trafficking syndicate.
