Agartala, June 22: Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday asked the officials concerned to complete all the central schemes within the stipulated time by maintaining the quality of works.
The Chief Minister, who chaired the first state-level meeting of DISHA of FY 2023-24 at the Secretariat on Thursday, also asked the implementing agencies to work with specific targets.
In the meeting, the Chief Minister reviewed the present status of the centrally-sponsored projects being implemented in the state. He stressed on regular inspection and monitoring of the works.
Union Minister of State Pratima Bhowmik, several MLAs, Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha and other officials were present in the meeting.
The Chief Minister said, the present state government is sincere towards fulfilling basic demands of the people. The state government, he said, took an initiative to highlight the report card on development works before the people after every 100 days.
He said, development of Janajati areas is top most priority of the government and the concerned departments need to work more effectively so that the people residing in the Janajati areas get the benefits of various schemes.
Taking part in the discussion, the Union Minister emphasized on water conservation, natural farming and irrigation. She also advised the Social Welfare and Social Education department to work in coordination with the banks so that the people don’t face any harassment in availing social pensions.
Secretary of Urban Development department Dr. Sandeep R. Rathod said, 75.39 lakh mandays under MGNREGA were generated till June 20 of the current financial year.
He also said, constructions of 2,12,099 houses under Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana (rural) were already completed. The Union Ministry of Rural Development approved additional 1,30,695 houses for the state on May 29 last. Among them, 1,12,800 houses were sanctioned till June 21.
Secretary of Urban Development department Abhishek Singh discussed the progress of AMRUT 2.0, PMGY-I, PMGY-II and PMGY-III. He also said, works of six National Highways are underway in Tripura. On behalf of NHIDCL, it has been informed that 5 out of 23 major projects for national highway development in the state have already been completed.
According to Singh, under the Jal Jeevan Mission, 60.40 percent rural households have already been given tap water connections.
Secretary of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare department Apurba Roy said, 20,000 hectares of land have been brought under organic farming. He said the area of pineapple (organic fruit) farming is being expanded in the state.
He said, 1,54,913 soil health cards have been distributed among the farmers since 2018-19. Now, a target has been set to distribute soil health cards among 20,000 farmers. The state government also planned to set up five static soil testing laboratories in the current financial year.
Roy also said, a total of 10,08,068 farmers of the state have been brought under Fasal Bima Yojana from 2018 to 2022. He said, seven markets of the state would be linked with the e-National Agricultural Market in the first phase.
Secretary of Education department Saradindu Chowdhury held detailed discussions on mid-day-meal and Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan. He said, under Samagra Shiksha, smart classrooms would soon be set up in 752 schools.
Health Secretary Dr. Debashis Basu said, a total of 4,79,625 families have so far been provided Ayushman cards. Under Jan Arogya Yojana, 76,556 people of the state have been benefitted.
In the meeting, discussions on various other subjects including Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao and Food Security Act were held.
