Agartala, June 26: The Leader of Opposition and the CPM state secretary Jitendra Choudhuri on Wednesday talked tough against the ruling BJP led coalition government in Tripura and alleged that the jobless people in the rural areas, especially the poor and the unemployed youths of the state are struggling to earn their daily livelihood due to acute job crisis and unemployment.
Addressing the party’s mass gathering here at Agartala on Wednesday the CPM leader alleged that the government has adopted the policy of tempting unemployed youths of the state through their job advertisements before every election, which are later being cancelled after the election is over.
This government is depriving the unemployed of the state of Tripura through their unjustified outsourcing policy, he further alleged, adding that the situation in the rural areas of the state are so grim that at a time when the poor tribals in hilly areas are being forced to cross the border for collecting medicinal plants for earning their livelihood, the other section in the rural areas of the state are being forced to reach here in capital town to earn. Acute crisis of job and work under REGA and TUEP has landed the poor in trouble in Tripura, he said.
Choudhuri kept on attacking the government and said that at a time when the Janashiksha Andolan in Tripura had increased the literacy rate and set up schools in the remote areas of the state to spread education among the children of the down-trodden people of that state, the entire education system has been ruined under the rule of BJP government in Tripura.
He alleged that during the time when Biplab Kumar Deb was the chief minister over 900 schools were shut down and presently the government has decided to close over 100 schools due to lack of teachers. The BJP government in Tripura had failed to recruit adequate teachers during the last 6 years, he alleged.
On the other hand, the former ministers of the then Left front government Manik Dey and Pabitra Kar addressed the gathering and targeted the Modi-led government at the Centre over the NEET-UG and UGC-NET examination controversy and demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
