Kailashahar, Oct 28: People belonging to Bishnupriya Manipuri community held a massive protest rally at Dalugaon Bazar under Kailashahar on Friday condemning the raping of a minor girl at Kumarghat on October 19 last. 

The protest march was held under the banner of ‘Nikhil Bishnupriya Manipuri Yuva Parishad’ and eminent citizens of the community Mridul Sinha, Niranjan Sinha, Padma Gopal Sinha, Nilkanta Sinha, Dwip Sinha and others led the rally. The agitators demanded the arrest and ‘Hang till Death’ punishment for all persons involved in the crime. 

After the rally was over, Nilkanta Sinha said, they do not know who are involved in raping the girl. However, some influential persons are likely to be found guilty if Police investigate the case properly, Nilkanta Sinha commented and said, “So, we are demanding a fair investigation and ‘hang till death’ punishment for the criminals”.     

Speaking to the media, Niranjan Sinha said, “We thank the Police administration and the State government for arresting six persons, so far, in connection with the October 19 rape of a minor girl. However, we, the people of Bishnupriya Manipuri community, will hold agitation relentlessly demanding the arrest of all persons involved in this heinous crime – if necessary we will conduct State-wide agitation”.

He also said, a similar rally will be conducted at the Singirbil area in Kailashahar on Saturday. Besides, bigger agitation will be held in Kailashahar soon to ensure justice for the victim girl.
