Belonia, Nov 02: The opposition Left front on Saturday lambasted the Modi government at the Centre to oppose the government’s proposal of ‘One Nation One Election’ concept.

The youth wing of the Left front – DYFI on Saturday organised a mass gathering here at Belonia 1 No. Tilla, where the Left leaders participated to oppose the move of the government in implementing the ‘One Nation One Election’.

The speakers who addressed the gathering observed that the One Nation One Election, if implemented, will undermine the federal structure of the country and parliamentary democratic system.

The Modi government at the Centre has proposed the concept under the pretext of high election expenses, the speakers said, adding that the Left front will continue to oppose it.

MLA and CPI(M) state committee member Dipankar Sen, DYFI Belonia city zonal committee secretary Gautam Sen, party’s urban area committee secretary Manab Roy and other leaders were present at the event organized by left wing youth organization DYFI.
