Agartala, March 10: A group of locals of Agartala Kabiraj Tilla on Monday gathered infront of the South zonal office and customer care unit of Tripura Natural gas Corporation Ltd. (TNGCL) and opposed the relocation of the office.

The office was functioning for the past 6-7 years, but a recent decision to relocate the office to Krishnanagar has sparked outrage among local residents. The locals said that the relocation of the office would land them in trouble.

The incident took place while the office staff was packing the office materials to shift to Krishnanagar area. A group of locals gathered infront of the office and restricted their movement. The locals argued that shifting the office to Krishnanagar would cause immense inconvenience, as they would have to incur additional travel expenses to visit the office and report their grievances.

Opposing the relocation of the office, the agitated locals resorted to locking the office premise and said that the office staff has failed to reply to the reason behind the relocation of their office. On being asked, the concerned office staff said that they are shifting in accordance with the direction of their higher authority and they don’t have any control on this.

The locals however remained firm in their demand to retain the office in Kabiraj Tilla and expressed their dissatisfaction with the lack of any assurances from TNGCL authorities.
