Lok Sabha Polls: BJP forms 9-member committee to unite Matri Shakti

Agartala: Feb 01: With the goal to unite Matri Shakti in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the ruling BJP has taken up a country-wide programme- Shakti Bandhan.
A nine-member committee has been formed to make this programme a success across the country. State BJP vice-president Papia Dutta is one of them in this committee from the state. Shakti Bandhan program has already started in the state.
West Bengal MLA Srirupa Mitra Chowdhury has been given the responsibility to make this program successful in the state and in the entire eastern region.
Shakti Bandhan programme was celebrated at Pratapgarh English Medium School on Thursday with the women of self help groups and NGOs in Chai Pe Charcha. The West Bengal MLA held a detailed discussion on women's empowerment and self-reliance.
Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Deepak Majumdar, who attended the programme, said that the number of self-help groups in the state has increased from 5,000 during the Left Front government to over 50,000 in the five years of the BJP government.
This shows that women in the state are making efforts to become self-reliant in the changing situation. The Government has included women’s dignity, safety and rights as top priority in the UCC Law. Now that UCC is going to be implemented in the state, the responsibility of its implementation is also big. Respect and security of mother powers the priority of BJP.
