Lost in Communist regime, state’s cultural pride revived under current govt: Biplab

Kumarghat, Jan 11: Former Chief Minister and now MP Lok Sabha Biplab Kumar Deb on Saturday strongly criticized the previous Communist regime for eroding cultural heritage and traditions.
Deb also highlighted the cultural and spiritual revival in Tripura under the current government.
He was addressing a gathering after inaugurating three-day Pous Mela in Kumarghat. The mela is an initiative of MLA Bhagwan Chandra Das.
Deb said, under the Communist rule, the people in this state forgot their cultural heritage and traditions. He credited the people of Tripura for embracing change in 2018 by ousting the Communists and restoring their cultural pride.
Deb said, it is the cultural heritage that binds us together as one nation.
Rajya Sabha MP Rajib BHattacharjee and MLA Bhagwan Chandra Das also spoke on the occasion. Unakoti Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Amalendu Das and Unakoti District Magistrate Dilip Kumar Chakma were also present.
The Poush Mela, organized at the Kumarghat PWD ground, featured 46 stalls, including those set up by self-help groups selling traditional delicacies like pitha. The fair will host cultural programs over the next three days, celebrating the rich heritage and traditions of the region.
