Agartala Feb 06: With the onset of BJP-led government in Tripura and because of the generous spirit of chief minister Dr Manik Saha and dedicated efforts of the sports minister, every school is now giving special importance to sports, said AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder.

The Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder on Tuesday attended the Annual Sports program of Rajnagar HS School under Ramnagar assembly constituency.

Addressing the program, the Mayor said, “Apart from studies, students must engage themselves in sport activities of their choice for maintaining a healthy life”.

“Sports is also playing an important role to achieve the goal of a Drug-free state. The state government and the department of sports is working tirelessly to ensure that youths do not fall prey to any sort of addiction rather engage themselves in various sport activities. For this, clubs, schools and other institutions are provided with sport kits by the concerned department”, he said.

The Mayor further said that the BJP-led government has given special importance to sports. Many grounds across the state have been reformed and made appropriate for playing. Also, stadiums have been renovated and sportsperson are provided with necessary assistance.
