Agartala, Mar 13: A total of 3.61 crore persondays have been generated under MGNREGA in the current financial year, an official said on Wednesday.
Addressing a press conference, Secretary to Rural Development department Dr. Sandeep R. Rathod said, 61.5 mandays have been created on an average.
The Secretary said, Tripura is holding the third position in the country in terms of generating persondays.
He mentioned, the central government has allocated Rs. 1065.64 crore to Tripura under MGNREGA so far in the current financial year 2023-2024 and the state’s share is Rs. 75.12 crore. An amount of Rs. 1021.75 crore has already been spent.
According to the secretary, the central government sanctioned Labour Budget of 3 crore mandays for the next financial year.
In the press conference, he also highlighted the various other achievements of the Rural Development department.
He said, under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin), the central government approved 3.77 lakh houses for Tripura so far, including 1.70 lakh houses since 2022. He also said, from the year 2022, a total of 500 houses have been constructed daily on an average (total 2.91 lakh houses have been built).
Under PMAY(G), the state government spent a total of Rs. 4700 crore, out of which Rs. 3000 crore (63 percent of the total fund) has been spent since the last financial year.
The Secretary said, two delegations from Maharashtra and Assam visited Tripura to study the state’s Panchayati Raj System. He also said, after the introduction of ‘Amar Sarkar’ portal, a total of 50,351 issues were uploaded by the citizens and 40,942 issues were already addressed.
Additional CEO of TRLM Ajit Shukla Das, director of Panchayat department Prasun De and Chief Engineer of RD department Sagar Sovan Debnath were present in the press conference.
