Gandacherra, Feb 13: A recent incident of abduction and looting of a vehicle by a gang of miscreants on the Gandacherra- Ambassa road triggered a sense of fear among the people.
The incident took place last Wednesday when a Bolero pickup vehicle, bearing the registration number TR01-D-1805, was transporting some items from Gandacherra to Ambassa.
At around 4 pm, as the vehicle reached an area between Jagabandhu and Barabari, a group of masked miscreants stopped the vehicle and abducted the driver, co-driver, and a passenger.
The gang then drove the vehicle approximately 5-6 km into a dense forest, looted goods worth around Rs. 3 lakh, and tied up the victims before escaping the scene.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Gandacherra police launched an intensive search operation in the area. Eventually, they managed to rescue the abducted individuals from the deep forest.
A case has been filed by the driver, and an investigation is underway.
This is not the first such incident on the Gandacherra- Ambassa road. Criminal activities, including looting, have reportedly been occurring regularly, but many victims have refrained from filing complaints due to fear of retaliation.
However, last Wednesday’s abduction has prompted locals to finally seek police intervention, hoping for a crackdown on such crimes.
The attack has raised serious concerns among drivers and commuters, highlighting the urgent need for enhanced security measures.
