Agartala, Dec 19: Agartala city has been put under a strong security cover in view of the North Eastern Council's Plenary scheduled to be held on December 20-21.
On Thursday, Director General of Police Amitabh Ranjan along with top brass inspected the security arrangements at various locations including State Guest House, where the VVIPs will stay during the high-level meeting.
Speaking to the media, the DGP said, strong security arrangements have been made for the NEC Meeting and security has been tightened along the India-Bangladesh border in the state.
He said, around 6000-7000 security personnel would be deployed in and around the city.
He said, apart from normal policing, security in all Naka points and patrolling in internal areas have been strengthened. The high rise buildings are also being covered under security arrangements.
The trial of carcade and review of security arrangements at Pragna Bhavan and State Guest House have been conducted on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Union Minister for Home Affairs Amit Shah, Union Minister for DoNER Jyotiraditya Scindia, MoS DoNER Dr. Sukanta Majumder, the Governors and Chief Ministers of all North Eastern States and top officials will be present in the NEC Plenary.
The administration is leaving no stone unturned to make the event successful and putting all necessary arrangements in place.
According to sources, the Union Home Minister will attend several programmes-- there will be one public meeting followed by visit to Bru resettlement camp in Dhalai district and the other programmes will be in Agartala.
