Agartala Jul 05: A delegation of Tripura Pradesh NSUI visited injured school student, Moutushi Das, at the GB Hospital Agartala on Friday who sustained injuries while protesting against transfer of a school teacher in North Tripura District, Dharmanagar, a few days back.
The NSUI delegation spoke to the doctors and family members of the injured student as directed by TPCC president Asish Kumar Saha and Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman.
Reportedly, students protesting against the transfer of a school teacher in Dharmanagar were attacked by a group of local miscreants allegedly owing allegiance to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Among the victims, Moutushi Das sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment at the GB Hospital.
The NSUI has strongly condemned this act of violence and demanded swift action.
Speaking to the reporters, one of the NSUI leaders said, “We call upon the Chief Minister, who also serves as the Education Minister, to apprehend the BJP-sponsored individuals responsible for the attack and ensure appropriate punishment”.
Furthermore, the NSUI leader highlighted concerns about the education system during the BJP’s rule alleging that the chief minister and the concerned department is in ‘deep sleep’ while the future of the students and youth is being pushed towards ‘darkness’.
The student wing of the Congress also condemned the state government’s decision to close 180 schools and acute shortage of teachers, leading to a decline in the education system.
