Agartala, Feb 08: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday said the ration dealers play an important role in supplying the essential items up to the last mile through Public Distribution System (PDS).
He said, there was a time when huge irregularities were reported in PDS. But, the digitization move of Prime Minister Narendra Modi brought transparency.
Acknowledging the efforts of the ration dealers, the Chief Minister said that the state government would take into consideration some proposals placed by them.
He was addressing the 26th state conference of Tripura Nyajya Mullyer Dokan Parichalak Samity at PRTI, A.D. Nagar.
“Our government is very sensitive. This government is working in a transparent way. Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi always says he is a chowkidar, and we are also chowkidar of Tripura. There is no place for corruption", the Chief Minister said.
Dr. Saha mentioned that because of the trust and support of the people, Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister and he would be re-elected.
He also predicted that the BJP-led NDA would get more than 400 seats in the ensuing Lok Sabha polls.
He emphasized that after the BJP government was formed, stress was laid on strengthening the PDS system.
“From 2018 till now, we have procured 1.92 lakh metric tonnes of paddy directly from the local farmers. We are also providing rations to Bru displaced people. Tripura Nyajya Mullyer Dokan Parichalak Samity is a part and parcel of this government because if the Public Distribution System (PDS) functions effectively, it will help the government gain the support of the people,” he added.
Minister of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Sushanta Chowdhury, Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder, BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharjee, MLA Mina Rani Sarkar were also present.
