RBI Santali script booklets for Tripura tribals

New Delhi, Nov 17: For distribution in Tripura among other states in the eastern and northeastern region, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has prepared five specific booklets in Santali script -- Ol Chiki -- to promote financial literacy among the tribal population.
Besides Tripura, the booklets will be distributed in Odisha, West Bengal, Assam, Jharkhand and Bihar where a sizeable Santali-speaking population live.
Prepared by RBI, Odisha office, the booklets were released by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at Bali Jatra in Cuttack on Friday.
The booklets were prepared to commemorate 90 years of RBI's operation in the country, said an official, adding that the central bank had recently held a series of events like quiz competition among students.
As part of its efforts to promote financial education, the RBI, Bhubaneswar has taken the initiative of translating and printing the five useful target specific booklets in Santali (Ol Chiki script) for distribution among people belonging to Santali speaking community, he said.
The books are likely to be useful for school children, farmers, entrepreneurs, self-help groups and senior citizens for creating awareness about financial products and services, good financial practices, going digital and consumer protection.
